About The Diet
This diet takes dieters through four cycles in 17-day increments. Proponents of this diet say that changing your plan every seventeen days helps avoid plateaus and boredom and makes it mentally easier for people to stay on the plan longer.
We did not classify this as a “fad” diet (even tho it starts out this way) despite rapid weight-loss claims, as it is only in one cycle (the first) that you may experience substantial weight loss. The diet book tells you will be mostly water and not fat. Additional weight loss is stated to be 2-3 pounds per week and you do increase your calories after the first cycle.
In the third cycle, weight loss is geared to be about 1-2 pounds per week, which most health experts agree is a safe pace. This diet does offer some “wiggle room” for mistakes and encourages healthy eating and exercise — both of which can help you lose weight and reduce the risk of certain diseases.
Exercise is an important part of this plan as “body confusion” is a critical component to success on this diet. If you are not will to, or able to exercise, this is not the ideal plan for you.
