Abs Diet Book ReviewAbout The Diet

This diet can seem a little overwhelming at first, but it will teach you a lot about food and get you thinking about what you are eating. It is important to note that this diet is specifically designed to try and attack belly fat and give you a nice 6-pack abdomen so you must do the exercise part of the plan as well.

Eat six times a day, alternating large meals with snacks. You do not count calories and do not have to measure portions, which, in itself is an off-the-beaten-path approach to dieting that may work well for you.

To follow this plan you eat at least two “power foods” with each meal. Examples of power foods include raspberries, almonds and peanut butter, whole grains, oatmeal, spinach, and eggs. The plan is fairly balanced and encourages a heart-healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and is limited fat and saturated fats.

The overall diet plan is well within the government’s recommended nutritional guidelines for the major macronutrients (fat, protein, and carbohydrates) and only is a little short on daily calcium and potassium intake. Both of these nutrients are hard to get in many diets so can be supplemented with a daily vitamin. If you enjoy fish you will be able to get enough vitamin D, otherwise, plan on taking that in a daily supplement as well.

This is a fairly flexible diet that allows you splurges, your favorite foods, and you don’t have to purchase meal replacements — an added plus — but you do have to exercise.

This diet may be hard to modify to be gluten-free, vegan, or vegetarian, but with proper planning, you could make it work for you.
